Hi. My name is Paula Cook and i am the owner of Cooks Sewing in North East, Pennsylvania.
First of all, I love to sew. I have been sewing since i was a little girl about the age of 10. I believe I inherited this gift of sewing from my grandmother. She was a wonderful seamstress and i loved to watch her sew and look at the fabrics she would ponder in the Sears and Roebuck catalog till she found the perfect one to make a new blouse or cushion cover or apron. She had the most original ideas when it came to adding trim and buttons to anything she made.I would spend days on end at her house sewing and she would walk me through any problems I had. I’m very thankful for her guidance and patience in teaching me.
About eighteen years ago i decided to have a store where I would mend, alter and make things from patterns. My husband encouraged me and helped make it all possible although he did have his doubts that I would get very many customers. He was very surprised and so was I when I had a great response within days of opening.
That was the beginning and now after eighteen years I have accumulated some very wonderful customers in this little country town called North East. I also have customers from the surrounding areas. I couldn’t ask for better people and they are all fun to talk to. It gives me a chance to make new friends and find out all the different things people do for a living.
Thanks for taking the time to read this introduction.
